I imagine Ford is using battery tech a generation or two back. The newer LFPs are not as cost effective. Dang, who wouldnāt like to have that fast blade 2.0 charging in 9 minutes? We donāt get those nice things in the states š
Yeah, it always varies. I havenāt found Slate to play fast and loose with their numbers so far. Remember when they advertised 150 miles for the old āstandard rangeā option? No one would do that in the US market unless they were seriousā¦
I think the idea of a ~200 mile standard range makes sense. The Fathom will be more aero than the Slate, but was projected to have a smaller (51kw?) battery, compared to Slateās 63kw. Weight matters more than aero until highway speeds, so both of these smaller trucks should be efficient in town...
I donāt think the Fathom will be a loss leader, but if itās supposed to be a low-cost pivot to SDVs, it will be low margin and subscription features will help recoup capex costs sooner. Also, it could be a sort-of loss leader if itās a pilot for future UEV vehicles, which will cost less to bring...
