  1. What features do you hope the Fathom might have?

The spare tire may be like the Maverick: a spare tire became on add-on in 2026.
  2. Wall Street Journal: Ford Wants to Sell 100,000 Fathoms in Year One

Also if the looks of the Fathom don't generate excitement, then people will just go with the more truck-looking Maverick.
  3. Ford CEO Jim Farley on China, tariffs, and the quest for a $30,000 EV | Decoder interview

While I really enjoyed BlueCruise, because the system would disengage somewhat randomly and there's enough debris on the roads, I always kept contact with the wheel.
  4. New Podcast Interview with Ford's Alan Clarke - Includes Range Discussion

Lower range can be OK if fast charging is possible (like 60% battery in < 10 min; 50% battery < 5 min would be amazing). On an average day I'm doing about 60mi round trip. But there are a number of days where I'm pushing 120mi round trip, and occasionally 180mi. And as we know, if you're going...
  5. Something Important, Say No to Door handles.

I have thought the indent below the handle was the way to go. I also had a Mach-E that suffered from the push button not always opening the door.
  6. Are EV-Specific Tires Better than Popular Non-EV Tires?

I hope for tires that withstand having a loaded bed or pulling things. I'm ok with a range penalty in this case.
  7. Tin Foil Hat Post

I also hope the front profile looks more "truck" than "cute". I liked the 2025 Maverick updates.
  8. What features do you hope the Fathom might have?

You get used to it, honestly. I drove a MINI with the large speedo for a while and it was weird only for a little while. I just hope the display has a Dark Mode like the Mach-E had.
  9. X-Plan pricing for Fathom

I would love an X-plan for loyal customers who don't have access to X-plans.
  10. Dimensions for midsized and compact trucks for comparison. Also the RAV4 since it was offered as a reference for passenger compartment.

I care about the bed size since a lot of materials I move are 4' wide. The Maverick bed's tailgate entry is about 50" wide IIRC---the internet will tell you the bed max width is 53", but that's beyond the tailgate. The bed height is about 20"; about 18" if you have a tonneau cover.
  11. New videos revealed shows wheels, assembly, snow track testing, less camo

Pre-2023 Mach-E owners remember the HVBJ problems.
  12. Any wagers on BlueCruise - 3 years or 90 days ?

The Mav's tech (and the Mach-E) works fine, but it means more hard braking incidents. Especially stop-and-go traffic: it technically does the correct acceleration and braking, but that doesn't mean it is comfortable. With my human eyes I can clearly see 1/2mi down the road there are brake...
  13. Tin Foil Hat Post

Well we eventually got the FA.
  14. Any wagers on BlueCruise - 3 years or 90 days ?

BC was great on long trips. The only thing though is the eye detection: the sensors are on the steering column. If you are drinking coffee or water, you have to take quick sips because the 5s timeout is too short. Top-mounted cameras would have been better. I've come to appreciate the Mav's...
  15. It is not Ranchero. It is Ford Fathom™. $28,350 Starting Price

Oh hey. So if Apple Maps is the primary vehicle map system, can it now handle trailer-optimized routing? I think the F-150 can have trailer towing navigation:
  16. Calculated Battery Size Based on the Images

Max range ~300mi is nice because you can do a ~200mi run and know you have extra range to get to a charger should the one you're at be 1) broken or 2) so full you don't want to wait. I had multiple times where I'd show up at a station and it would be a 30min wait or so in a line. It's also...
  17. Tin Foil Hat Post

Ford's Fathom IG is playing games: https://www.instagram.com/fordfathom/ Obviously tomorrow's post is a "Q".
  18. What features do you hope the Fathom might have?

While you're taking notes, something like FITS models and specs might be nice.
  19. Calculated Battery Size Based on the Images

In my Mach-E RWD standard 71kWh battery pack, I used to get about 3.5mi/kW with daily mixed-use driving, 2.8mi/kWh on the freeway. (Curb weight was 4,394lbs.)
