  1. 2027 Ford electric truck replaces 12V with 48V zonal architecture

    >> Normally you need a low voltage battery of some sort. The first posting on this thread explicitly says the UEV does not have a low voltage battery.
  2. 2027 Ford electric truck replaces 12V with 48V zonal architecture

You're aware UEV vehicles don't have a low voltage battery, right? That is the first message in this thread. They use a DC to DC converter (generally a highly reliable component if properly specified and cooled) to supply low voltage directly from the high voltage battery. You're not wrong...
  3. Ford Fathom Design Wishlist: High-Efficiency Colors & Smoother Multi-EV Home Integration

If you watch Tim Bartz's video on the Fathom (he's a darn reliable source of information), he seemed kind of shell shocked at what kind of standard content you got with the Fathom. He was shaking his head wondering if it was going to disrupt sales of other Ford models, because you just get so...
  4. Tim: You will be surprised (in a good way) how cheap it will be for the ER battery

I remember one site, not to be named, where you could login with any deleted profile's user name and the password was "DELETED".
  5. Tim: You will be surprised (in a good way) how cheap it will be for the ER battery

If the Fathom isn't perfect for me, I'll just stick around and see what else Ford delivers on the UEV platform. I'm 99.9% sure the platform is awesome for me, partly just because I'm an engineering geek - and the engineering of the UEV platform rocks (well, I think it rocks - tbd).
  6. Ford Fathom Design Wishlist: High-Efficiency Colors & Smoother Multi-EV Home Integration

There are a few solar truck and vehicle products out there. It's a common ask. Of course nicer if offered by Ford under warranty. https://www.worksport.com/products/solis
  7. X-Plan pricing for Fathom

TwoQuickCapri, you are right and I am wrong. I was curious about why you were denied and I was not, so I researched terms. It's a bummer to me that Ford recognizes retirees like me but not vets like you (after 24 months have elapsed). You served your country just like all other vets. IMHO, I...
  8. Tim: You will be surprised (in a good way) how cheap it will be for the ER battery

When Tim says (of the battery upgrade) "cheap" and "you'll be pleasantly surprised", I'm thinking of what I'd consider "cheap" and "a pleasant surprise". And I come up with the vicinity of $3,500. On the new Kia EV3, a battery upgrade along with a whole next trim level (lots of goodies) is...
  9. Dimensions for midsized and compact trucks for comparison. Also the RAV4 since it was offered as a reference for passenger compartment.

I think it's cool how different we are in what we want. I miss my 189" Ranger single cab. Others want bigger. What's even more cool... BEVs are eventually gonna give all of us exactly what we want. From the 152" Telo, to the 174" Scout, to the 2xx" Fathom, to whatever else gets dumped on the...
  10. X-Plan pricing for Fathom

As a retiree for twenty years now, who's received the benefit something like five times, I can attest that is not so. That's from multiple dealers in multiple states. I had to register once with IDME from the Ford site. Since then, I just go to the IDME site and get my certificate. Always...
  11. Dimensions for midsized and compact trucks for comparison. Also the RAV4 since it was offered as a reference for passenger compartment.

Yea, I had buyer's remorse pulling out of the dealership lot in my 200" long Maverick, looking back sadly at my 189" Ranger. The Maverick still feels like a bloated whale when parking. Not as bad as the Ridgeline I test drove, but a monster. I can't imagine parking a modern F150. Hoping the...
  12. Dimensions for midsized and compact trucks for comparison. Also the RAV4 since it was offered as a reference for passenger compartment.

For the Mav, I have to put in some 2x4 supports, then full size material goes above the wheel well. They have a feature where you can set the tailgate as an extra support at that level. But I've done it and it's not an optimal solution. I'm hoping Fathom does the Telo thing. Wheel wells far...
  13. X-Plan pricing for Fathom

That's awesome. Is that on top of the standard Ford $500 veteran bonus? The current coupon in my inbox for Ford retention is $750. Not in any hurry to use it, as they send me one every six months or so.
  14. Dimensions for midsized and compact trucks for comparison. Also the RAV4 since it was offered as a reference for passenger compartment.

And of course the Maverick, which is of special interest because Ford has specifically said the Fathom has a longer wheelbase than the Maverick. So it puts a lower bound on wheelbase. But I'm wagering the Fathom has less length either side of the wheels - especially up front. The Ford Maverick...
  15. Toyota Highlander EV 3 row SUV

I asked AI what electric three row SUVs are sold in the USA. I was surprised the list was this big. I was wondering if the VW ID Buzz comes in three rows?
  16. 2027 Ford electric truck replaces 12V with 48V zonal architecture

They have said Ethernet is on the Fathom. I've been curious about the physical wiring/cabling they'll use. Looking forward to a Munro teardown, which you know is coming the instant they can get their hands on a Fathom.
  17. Ford Fathom on Track: Universal EV Production Comes to Life at Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP)

Electric Duo, I left a comment on your last YouTube video. I'm wondering if Ford is using Morse Code Easter Eggs in their videos. I noticed a lot of graphics are stylized dots and dashes. Probably not. I couldn't assemble them into anything meaningful. But they do form letters.
  18. Ford Fathom on Track: Universal EV Production Comes to Life at Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP)

The photo of the covered Fathom coming down the line. I'm trying to figure out if it has the front section attached yet. I want to say no, because it looks awfully snubnosed. OTOH, that might just be perspective.
  19. 2027 Ford electric truck replaces 12V with 48V zonal architecture

Speaking of 12V, I'll be interested in how many 12V systems are still on the vehicle. The Cybertruck still has 12V components - it was just too expensive for Tesla to pay the suppliers to convert them. Over (lots of) time, I'd wager the industry will move to 48V en mass and we'll see fewer and...
