Hello All.

Have a 25 Maverick Hybrid AWD Lariat and a Hyundai Ioniq 6 AWD Limited. Great to have the utility of the trucklet and the efficiency of the EV. I'm thinking maybe in a year or two the Fathom may be able to replace both. for us (assuming AWD and decent 3500+ towing).

Current Lightning Lariat ER owner. I will likely get a Fathom while waiting for the Scout Terra EV to come out in 2030 the way things are looking.

I'm Bob, a regular on MTC. So far, Fathom has been checking all my boxes. I wanted Maverick-sized and BlueCruise. If Ford adds ventilated seats for these Alabama summers with a healthy range, my Maverick might have to move on.

So, I'm partially on board at the moment. I was interested in the Scout, but I'm getting too used to some of the self-driving tech, and Scout won't have it, that I can tell.

Just sold my 22 Mav hybrid. Loved it but recently inherited a lightly used Accord. Would love to go electric so will explore this option but also watching the slate but I did not preorder one.

We have two hybrids (an Accord and a CRV) which we love. I had a hybrid Lincoln MKZ that I loved, which got totaled. When Ford discontinued sedans, I went with the Accord Hybrid. I am looking to replace my surf mobile which is a 2007 Honda Odyssey. I had put the $50 down on the Slate. After thinking about it, I don't feel like tinkering with it to get it to what I want. Plus I think that I would be spending at least 30K to get most of what I want. Plus I like the cross traffic/blind spot safety stuff which isn't available from the factory. So the Ranchero/ Fathom will get me closer to what I want at a price that is about the same as a lesser equipped Slate. Hoping for a mid gate so I can get a topper and fit a longboard surfboard that can be locked up.

If I have to eat my words, I’ll come back to do so, but I’m just not a truck guy. Instead, I’m here for the UEV platform.

I’m fascinated by the legacy manufacturing company making this shift. Ford is a company taking Tesla’s “unboxed” idea but actually executing, leapfrogging them. And Ford is executing in spite of the headwinds against innovation and R&D.

I trust that Ford will deliver a “closed back” vehicle on the platform. How could they not sell into the two row SUV market? At that point, based on what I’m seeing, our trusty Mach-e, will move on to greener pastures.

In the meantime, I will try really hard to avoid bashing truck folk . Love you, brothers and sisters. I don’t understand you, but there’s plenty of UEV Platform for all of us. Someone had to be first, and if you’re working out the bugs, even better .

I recently parted ways with my 2023.5 Mach-E GTPE after 2 years of daily driving enjoyment. (It was an impulse purchase in response to an unexpected moment at a Ford dealership with one of my granddaughters. We weren't there to even look for purchasing a vehicle)

I admit that the Mach-E was perhaps the most well put together Ford vehicle I have ever owned. And that's saying something since I have been driving Ford trucks for nearly 6 decades of my 7 on the planet. That "car" never flinched at the 22,000 miles of hooliganism that it inspired.

But I'm a truck guy and I just couldn't shake my desire to daily a truck instead. It was a tough decision since I was 100% converted to EV by that Mach-E. At least for any drive that can be done with an EV. I blame the Mach-E entirely for forcing me to fetch a GMC Sierra Denali. (oh the irony, Ford )

Looking forward to what the near future holds for the Blue Oval to coax me back.

I'm Paul, a "veteran" of Maverick Truck Club since back when that craziness started in 2021/2022. Rode the highs and lows of the Maverick situation and ended up buying and selling three over the years, keeping my most recent one, a 2025. Recognize a lot of names here already, which is funny. Looking forward to a similar situation with the Fathom that many of us had with the Maverick leading up to release and then thru the first couple model years while all the fun rumors and announcements occur. Seeing all the fun mods people make. Hoping ForScan will work and work fairly quickly for the Fathom like it does for the Maverick.

I was an early SLATE reservation holder too, but I cancelled my reservation and got my $50 back a little sooner. In the scheme of things, $300 isn't that big of a deal to avoid what I think may be a costly mistake for many. Unfortunately the SLATE forum has some cult-like behavior that's not open to criticism or critical thinking, but I think it's a minority. Don't let them bother you.

I think the Fathom is a much better play for almost everyone interested in a small entry-level EV and/or trucklet. We know the specs on the SLATE and it's not really that much of a truck (no AWD, 2000 lb towing max) but it does have a decent sized bed with capacity. The Fathom will probably exceed the tow, will (one day) have AWD, and though the bed looks to be smaller than the SLATE, like the SLATE, it's not full sized. A bed that's Maverick sized would be plenty for most. I'll argue the Fathom is more truck if that's what someone is focused on.

There IS a lot to like about the SLATE (simple and plastic body). but there are also a lot of questionable design choices like the idiotic lack of power windows, power mirrors and blind-side detection (all of which are not really high-tech any longer and are also simple, proven systems). Slate's business model seems to rely on accessories.. and wraps (no thank you. I'll take permanent automotive-grade paint please).

At $20K, the simple SLATE looked like a bargain. Though now ,with the announced price,s , the trade offs compared to what you will get with the base Fathom (including 4 doors! power stuff! safety stuff! and a known dealer/service network. Paint! radio with Carplay!) really make sticking with SLATE a tough decision. You have to really, really want 2 doors, a marginally larger bed, and a bare-bones cockpit that is lacking safety and common convenience features.

Ford may not be perfect, but it looks like they've done their homework with a great price point, a focus on efficiency, and EV standards like NACs and vehicle-to-load capability make it a no-brainer.

I hope SLATE pulls a rabbit out of their hat and comes up with something more competitive if for no other reason to keep Ford honest, but I''ll skip the first gen SLATE. If they upped the content yet keep the simple knob and switched design, add AWD and V2L they may have a nice 2nd gen offering if they last long enough to make it. I think Bezos may help with that.
