while it may not be likely that we see an EREV option initially, it's quite possible it was considered in designing the UEV platform and that it could be offered in the future.
No way in he** will that happen.

Ford canceled the F150 Lightning EV and will introduce a replacement as a Range-Extended Hybrid.

They did not take the F150 Lightning EV and add a EREV option nor will they ever do it to the Universal EV Platform.

Smart move release in some information about his truck now to kill Slate. I think most people that buy a slate truck now will not be in a position to buy another truck next year mainly because I believe the resale value on a slate‘s going to be absolutely terrible, horrible, and atrocious.

“Ford intends the base model to be RWD with a range of at least 200 miles and a target price of $30K. An AWD option with some other features including extra range was a small upgrade to maybe $35-38K.

The comment below is from an “insider” on another forum:

“The Fathom only has one trim level with a few option packages with a standard or extended range battery. The option packages are similar to Tesla really; sound system, seats, Blue Cruise, and wheel choices. So there won't be a huge price swing like a typical Ford, and the base spec won't be the penalty box like a typical Ford.”
With a battery pack similar to my Mach E (standard range), I'd expect the Fathom to have about the same range which is fine with me.

As for the options - gotta have: Blue Cruise.

Mach E has spoiled me so much that I renewed my BlueCruise subscription!
Ranchero EV Pickup Truck It is not Ranchero. It is Ford Fathom™. $28,350 Starting Price Screenshot 2026-05-12 at 7.06.46 AM

At least depreciation on a $25k, or even a $30k is le$$ than the hit the more expensive EV's drop.
There's a lot of EV's that quickly depreciate more than the Slate's MSRP.

My GMC Denali EV is a good example.

Excellent name, @rileyfromford ! Much better than a Ranchero.

Coming from the Mach-e, I don’t want a bed. I do want the UEV platform. So keep the news coming! The more I see, the more I want to break my “drive it till the wheels fall off” philosophy.

Looking forward to seeing the reveal.

Not an option - every Fathom will have BlueCruise hardware

I'm fascinated by the whole question of whether or not the Fathom has trims. Some have said not. That's very un-Ford-like. OTOH, if you're going for manufacturing quality and consistency and low complexity - eliminating trims is really smart. Honda did it for many years back in the day.

Maybe that's what was meant when it was said it will be like a model-t

... with little or no options...

You can get it in any color you like, as long as it's black.

That’s a very interesting point.

It makes sense if you think about it, less configurations = cheaper to build, which helps ford make it at an affordable price.

Farley’s on record (Decoder podcast?) saying that Ford is derisking by limiting the initial model availability. In context, he was saying a pickup, not a sedan or suv, etc.

I don’t know what that means for the initial availability of options. Maybe the first batch is standard range battery only, for example.

As of now, all things are possible , so I can dream of a “one more thing” at launch.

Ford's reference to a standard battery hints at a larger battery. So, I think there will be options. That said, fewer options also mean that Ford can crank these out in a hurry with fewer delays due to parts shortages needed to build the various trims. I just hope they offer some decent paint colors, but their color palette on their website has me concerned we are going to just get pastels.
