Are EV-Specific Tires Better than Popular Non-EV Tires?

Found this review video comparison that has the 245/55R19 Michelin E Primacy tires that are on the camo covered spy shot pictures.

What our new spy photos do reveal is the wheel diameter (19 inches) and the tire specs: Michelin E Primacy all-seasons, sized at 245/55R-19.

EV tires are typically heavier load rated and low rolling resistance (LRR) for range.

Tires will wear faster on EVs due to the increased weight.

And Ford may change their OEM tires many times before the production release.

My OEM Mach E tires lasted 30,000 miles and switch to run flats (RFT) due to lack of a spare.

Now I can drive confidently without worry of a flat tire having to pull over immediately - 50 miles of distance available on zero pressure!

We hashed this out way too much on the Lightning forum.

There is nothing special about an "EV" tire. The ones that came on Lightning were flimsy little 4 ply Goodyear tires, despite the truck's 6,500 lb. curb weight. That basically proves that any aftermarket tire will work just fine.

As far as wear goes, we've seen 8,000 lb. heavy duty pickups go 60k to 80k miles on a set of tires, so why should a more lightweight EV truck be any different?

I've reviewed a lot of tires for my channel over the years and in my opinion these "EV" tires are a marketing ploy. I would prefer a lightweight all-terrain tire on my truck, EV or not, because they are less likely to suffer flats.
