One of the dealers I spoke with said they showed a photo of the Fathom to the Dealers, but they were not allowed to copy the image. I did not pay attention to the MAche E , lightning or Maverick introduction. Did you see this same chumming approach on those new vehicle introductions? What does Ford gain by delaying a release of an image and some dimensions, with trims and opions to follow a month or so later? If production is scheduled for first quarter, would it not make sense to get a 60 day lead on preorder interest to help define the production material run?

I don't know if we can compare anything Ford has done in the past pre-release and what they are doing with this first UEV vehicle.

Or put another way, I don't know of any release that they have done in recent history that is anywhere as important to Ford.

I'm not defending or condemning. Just along for the ride with a very important moment in the history of the most Legacy manufacturer of them all.

Dealers have sat in it and touched it in person at the "Annual Ford Motor Company Dealer Meeting" last month, where dealerships were able to send one or two reps to the meeting (usually it was one of the dealership owners or highest level management from the dealership, not just some random employee). This is already well beyond people seeing photos.

What does Ford gain by delaying a release of an image and some dimensions, with trims and opions to follow a month or so later?

It is called building anticipation, and it is clearly working. Look at us talking about it. Look at this forum full of excitement and rumors and conspiracy theories.

Everything I have seen published so far indicates ordering is planned to open in quarter 1, production begins later. That could mean orders don't even open until March of 2027......production starting later. There is no need for any orders to be placed to determine customer preference if the options and trims will be limited, which reliable sources say they will. This isn't going to be a "25 packages to choose from with 4 trim levels and 15 colors" truck. Ford can crank out thousands of "stock" orders for dealerships to have on the lot to sell to people who didn't pre-order or who don't give a crap about the color or if it is AWD versus RDW, or standard range versus extended range. There is very little need for Ford to even allow pre-orders.

Thanks but the Windshield is still not raked enough. It needs to extend to the middle of the front wheel. Also I don't believe driver should straddle what looks like the front traction motor.

Tinker with the Ford super truck EV but remove the race car bits and make it smaller. That's far closer to the fathom in styling than what AI is giving us.

Riley said in a past post that the truck would be revealed in early 2027. It has to be the Detroit auto show in Jan. can't think of a better time or event to do it at. Unless Ford does a standalone media event independent of auto shows.

January will be here before we know it. But it would be nice to get some nibbles between now and then. More interviews with engineers and designers, maybe teasing the shape under a tarp, showing styling sketches, or like a close up of various styling elements.

The front end on the fathom also angles down. I don't know why we as a community keep putting out renderings showing a tall, boxy, upright front end.

Adding some shading and detail to the patent image. The a-pillar might be further back than what the patent shows, it's hard to tell.
