I was just listening to the Green Cars podcast. I noticed Alan Clarke's comment that Ford believes with the UEV platform, BEV has now equaled or exceeded ICE in the "B" segment in cost equivalency. Which everyone was predicting for 2027 to 2028. So, right on schedule.

It's a huge BEV inflection point if true.

Previous speculation had the fully loaded price closer to $38k. In my opinion, “Well below mid 30’s” would be in the 32-33k range. I don’t see how that’s possible if you are including awd and extended battery. I’d guess awd will be 2-3k by itself and then the extended range will be somewhere in the 3-5k range. Maybe an extra 1k for upgraded wheels and another $500 for paint.

I mean everything is speculation at this point, even the fully loaded price coming in well below mid 30’s. With the base price being 30k, there’s no way you are getting awd and extended range battery for 3k more. Maybe one or the other, but not both. I won’t complain if it’s true , just doesn’t seem very realistic.

Tim is in the know as in he was told the actual numbers that Ford told the dealers at a dealer meeting where he and others got to see and get in the Fathom along with pricing.

He is not allowed to state those numbers by Ford so he hedges by saying statements like:

Tim: Fully loaded Fathom is well below mid 30's - a fact not speculation he knows the number

Will the ER battery be $10,000 like the F-150 Lightning?
Ford Answer: NO, It will be significantly less than that

Tim: (with a look) You will be surprised (in a good way) how cheap it will be for the ER battery - a fact he knows the number

Tim: You will be very impressed at the price level with what's included as standard equipment - again he knows what features are included standard

More expensive models: Please name those models

Also list your examples of what features the Fathom (fully loaded) you believe will be excluded.

It will be interesting to compare your list now to what gets announced at the reveal.

I believe he was commenting on my post about the speculation that it would be around 38k fully loaded.

We already know that the fathom comes standard with rwd and a standard range battery for $29,945 and will be well equipped. On most EVs, the AWD option is around 3k and the extended range battery is between 3-10k. 10k is for large vehicles like the lightning. I don’t think anyone was expecting the fathom to have a battery the same size as the lightning. Mach E’s ER battery is $5250. I would expect the Fathom to have a smaller battery than the Mach E, so 3-4k for that is reasonable. Add in 2-3k for awd and you are looking at 5-7k over the base price. I hope he is right. 33k (my definition of “well below mid 30’s) for fully loaded would be awesome. I just don’t see how it can happen.

What I do find interesting is Tim’s comments about the range. He mentioned 200 miles for the standard range in the video. I know we have discussed it here and I’ve heard that number from some insiders for a while now, but I don’t think I’ve heard ford mention it at all.

Also, everything Tim has been mentioning lines up with what I’ve heard from the insiders. Here’s a few quotes they have said, so again take these with a grain of salt:

“The Fathom only has one trim level with a few option packages with a standard or extended range battery. The option packages are similar to Tesla really; sound system, seats, Blue Cruise, and wheel choices. So there won't be a huge price swing like a typical Ford, and the base spec won't be the penalty box like a typical Ford.”

“To add more details. Base gets you RWD and 200 Miles of range. Add $2K for AWD (like Tesla), and about $3-4K for extended range which is around 280-300 miles. So around $40K for loaded, I’d estimate.”

Tim: I think it was published somewhere out there 200 I think was the goal.



First that is incorrect. What was published somewhere out there was the goal of 300 miles of range.

Second he did not acknowledge that 200 range number all he stated is that is his opinion the number will probably be leaked by some dealer sometime is future then he would confirm it.

Also no way do I believe that the Fathom would have 5 miles less range than the non-areo boxy Slate.

He only stated that the base Fathom will have a smaller battery.

With Alan's information the ER battery will have 3 in front of it i.e. 300+ miles of range.

and with Tim's statement: You will be surprised how cheap it will be for the ER battery.

I can't see losing 100 miles of range going with the standard range battery vs the extended range battery for only a small amount more.
