i've wondered if perhaps what we've seen is simply an early test mule for the new platform tech, and if the model that is actually released will be different or larger (or if we'll see more than one UEV vehicle announcement later this year)..
This is my purely unproven, completely insane, conspiracy theory, but considering this platform is one of Ford's most radical and substantial undertakings in years, part of me has wondered if they're feeding us a false design to throw us, and their competitors off the trail until we get a reveal. Like if this mule that looks so much like a maverick is actually just a hacked together maverick, and we haven't actually seen the real shape yet.

Like I like most things about this truck. But with it being low, around 60 inches tall, RWD, with sporty driving dynamics, and bringing back the ranchero ute name, I do wish they had given us a sportier design. Like a proper ute with mustang coupe styling cues or something. But it doesn't look like that's gonna happen.

Seeing how the truck looks like a maverick, but with a kinda funky slopped front end and questionable proportions is the only thing I haven't loved. Which is a shame, because I'm a design enthusiast first and foremost.

As for other products, people who toured the skunkworks facility said there were about 5 covered shapes of different vehicle types, but you couldn't really make out much about their designs because of how much padding there was on them.

That being said, apparently one of the shapes was very clearly a hot hatch/sedan shape. Guessing they knew because it was a lot lower than the other stuff. A rally racing escort was in the design studio for inspiration. I'd love to see a proper sporty hatch inspired by the 90s escort whaletail, look those up if you don't know what they are. That would be a sick affordable EV hatch.

I probably won't buy this truck, just because I love my 2022 mav hybrid so much, and there's no point in having two similarly sized and priced trucks. But a hot hatch or some other car, I would be all over that like white on rice.

I don't know if this is the final shape. But it's definitely less Maverick than the camouflaged test mule.

It has been so much fun watching you all squint at our camo (and covered) trucks for the last few months. We’ll have more to share soon™... promise.

So just a small hint please. 😁

Are the trucks driving around in camo, the ones we are squinting at, the same truck that Ford didn't mind us seeing in the tight skirt camo pictured above?

I mean it's obvious that the approach to camouflage is very different between the two.

So, you say the name isn't interesting, but it'd be hilarious if it turns out NOT to be the Ford Ranchero EV. Are you officially confirming that the forum is in fact correctly named? 🤣
Nevermind 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hehehehehehe. When we say that this is a totally different way of doing everything - I guess playing into a name rumor is one of those things. Unfathomable, if you will.
I'm Goin to pretend like my question spurred you to go ahead and announce the real name.
You just couldn't keep it a secret any longer!

(I'm pondering my next question to you, since now we all know I have the touch 😁)
