Impressive announcement that the 2027 Toyota Highlander is all EV - no more ICE or Hybrid engines.

Slightly smaller than an Expedition but likely to be priced the same. Given that we get over 500 miles a tank on our Expedition, 300 miles is a bit short.

In any case, not a direct competitor to the Fathom given the size and likely price difference.

My wife has a 2022 Explorer and I would like to replace it with Electric. This Highlander is a leading candidate. Pricing is unknown at this point. Estimates are approx. $55,000.

My wife is looking at this too!

She drives a PHEV but after I got my BEV, she now has overcome range anxiety!

What PHEV does she have?

My wife isn't convinced by my Lighting, she wants to take the interim step of a PHEV SUV first. We have been casually looking at a Mazda CX-90 PHEV but not seriously.

She drives the Honda Clarity PHEV sedan.

There are other PHEV: Toyota Prius & RAV4, Chrysler Pacifica, BMW X5, and Mazdas.

She was thinking of the RAV 4, but when I told her that the Fathom is the same interior size but with a bed, she said a 3 row SUV.

She is also going to wait for the new Tesla Model Y L which has 3 rows and longer.

I asked AI what electric three row SUVs are sold in the USA. I was surprised the list was this big. I was wondering if the VW ID Buzz comes in three rows?

My son and daughter in law have a KIA Sorento PHEV and they love it. They were all EV when living in Boston. Now that they moved they kept the Bolt and sold the VW. They love the Sorento and the highest trim level is really nice.

If one could wait, the Hyundai Santa-Fe is going to come out with a 100+/600 mile eREV. The next -gen Santa-Fe. I am a big fan of E_REVs, but PHEVs are all we have in the US right now.

If you can't wait, maybe get a used 3-row PHEV with warranty left on it, and in 2 years, trade it for the e-REV.

I see a used CX90 can be had pretty cheap too...

I'm looking forward to EREV tech to get here to our shores too.
But I want it for the problem it solves that currently has no EV solution. Long Range towing.
Both the Lightning and the Sierra EV are awesome RV boondocking tow vehicles. But you can't stuff enough battery in them to overcome the public charging glutony you are saddled with for interstate travel. The onboard charging will flip that table!
