I found this dash cam video posted on Reddit yesterday

Two Ford Fathoms driving back to back followed by a Maverick and Mach E, decent size comparison with front and side views

Fascinating - thanks for sharing.

I replayed the parts where the Fathom and Maverick drove by (because I have a Mav in the driveway and know how tall it is). I know the frame of perspective has moved a bit, but I'd swear the Fathom was a hair taller than the Maverick - which contradicts everything I've seen and read to date.

OTOH, who knows if we're comparing AWD to FWD or whatever. But it was reassuring that the Fathom was not as low as a station wagon - something I was not looking forward to.

I did the same thing. I also have a Maverick so this video is helpful to get an idea of size. I agree with you it appears that the Fathom could be slightly taller when pausing the side view drive-by. I can't quite tell if the Maverick is a Lobo or not. If so, it would sit slightly lower to the ground. Lots of factors at play between the frame perspective and camo but encouraging to get a better idea of size

I grabbed frames from the video with both in the same positions as best I could.

Tried an overlay with 50% opacity, not real clear but you can make out the two images.

So, it's an EV Maverick... as advertised. Looks like it might be a touch beefier.

One thing about Ford Motor Company, when they find a formula that sells, they don't like messing with it. Particularly true on the trucks.

A Maverick with a battery pack. Ok, well that would be an improvement over the renders I've seen, because with the camo on these Fathoms they are HIDEOUS looking and the renders haven't been much better.

To be fair, they aren't bad looking. I personally believe the ugliest truck ever made is the 2024 ram 2500 Cummins. Particularly in white.

Just to be provocative, I don't think we've truly had an attractive truck since the 50s...

https://www.oldcarsweekly.com/features/car-of-the-week-1950-chevy-3100-pickup
I respectfully disagree. I think the Rivian r1t is gorgeous. Especially from a front 3/4s angle. I'm not a huge fan of many 30s to 50s cars. There are exceptions of course, but too many have the bulbous inverted bathtub shape to them imo.

We got some iconic 50s cars like the t-bird, first gen Corvette, and big fin caddies. But many of the vehicles from that era were duds when it came to visual appeal. They were also pretty generic and too similar. Most everything was 20 feet of fins, chrome, and excess.

The 60s imo was prob the best decade pre 2000 when it comes to timeless and iconic design. The gt40, mustang fastbacks, e-types, Corvette stingrays, etc. Virtually all designs that if you gave them larger wheels, lower greenhouses, and modern lights, would still work as modern cars today due to how good they look. A 1967 gt 500 fastback is never gonna go out of style.

Sorry for the mini rant, I'm a design fanatic lol.
