Dimensions for midsized and compact trucks for comparison. Also the RAV4 since it was offered as a reference for passenger compartment.

His truck has an 8' bed, so it is a little longer. But my cab is larger.

A lot of the size perception comes from the fact there were so many standard cabs and very few full size aka crew cabs (esp in the 1990s). People look at overall length and just see that number.

All that being said, my previous 2020 Honda Ridgeline was WAY more spacious than a friend's vintage 2001 F-150 in real world usable space. A lot is simply much improved ergonomic and person/cargo space design.

Yea, I had buyer's remorse pulling out of the dealership lot in my 200" long Maverick, looking back sadly at my 189" Ranger. The Maverick still feels like a bloated whale when parking. Not as bad as the Ridgeline I test drove, but a monster. I can't imagine parking a modern F150.

Hoping the Fathom is a bit smaller than my Mav. The Slate (my #2 choice) is plenty small but it's also clearly a punishment box on wheels.
I was hoping for about

NO! I love my mav and while I do not want 230” length, I would like 212 -215” overall length. That should allow a little more legroom and a slightly longer bed. We need something in between that is all electric. I am psyched. Just not aure what to do with my hybrid mav

If the Mav was that length I would not have owned one as it would not fit in my garage.

My old 1998 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab at 203.6" in length barely fit in my garage.

I think it's cool how different we are in what we want. I miss my 189" Ranger single cab. Others want bigger.

What's even more cool... BEVs are eventually gonna give all of us exactly what we want. From the 152" Telo, to the 174" Scout, to the 2xx" Fathom, to whatever else gets dumped on the market. Heck, even Ford can deliver multiple tophats just on the UEV platform.

I think the enabler these days is that BEV means freedom from CAFE perverse incentives. CAFE incentivized larger vehicles, a perverse and unintended outcome. With BEV trucks, OEMs are once again free to go small (if they want to).

All I really need is the ability to put four adults inside the cab comfortably, which most mid-sized trucks do not offer. I also would like to have a minimum of 5 ft in the cargo box and ideally a little bit more, but I realize that Fathom is going to be classified as a compact, so it's unlikely that we're going to get more. Not looking for a huge vehicle by any means, but they do need to give us enough to make the vehicle practical.
