This vehicle will hit $40k REAL fast. Just watch and see.

$28,350 base
$ 2,500 destination
$ 3,500 ER battery (very conservative guess)
$ 2,000 for AWD
$ 1,500 all additional options you may desire
$ 2,500 sales tax (using our 6% rate here in KY)
$ 750 dealer fees/doc fees (typical for dealers around here)

Now you're at $41k and if you find a dealer who will sell at a discount you might get out the door for $40k. AND, this is likely NOT even a fully loaded Fathom. This is just ER battery, AWD, and one options package (they always have several packages to choose from on their vehicles).
The destination charge is about $1600 and already announced, so the base Fathom comes in just under $30k including destination. I agree that The Fathom pricing is going to ramp up quickly. I'd doubt a fully loaded Fathom ends up cheaper than a loaded Maverick.

Is Ford making the Fathom a premium product vs the Maverick or something more affordable?

Fully loaded small trucks should be compared to each other.

The 2027 Maverick Lariat fully loaded should be the comparison to:

What we know so far about what the Fathom includes along with some options available to be ordered for it. Lariat Maverick feature listed first and if the Fathom has that feature:

AWD: Fathom available as an option.

Premium ActiveX trimmed seats: Fathom unknown

power driver/passenger seats: Fathom unknown

32-inch total screen tech layout (large touchscreen and digital cluster): Fathom Large 15.3" touchscreen, unknown about digital cluster but really hope it has that

360-degree camera system: Fathom unknown but really hope it has that

Ford Co-Pilot360 assist: Fathom unknown but really hope it has that

premium B&O sound system: Fathom unknown

ambient lighting: Fathom unknown

power-sliding rear window: Fathom unknown but I really don't care for it anyway

Box lighting, , bed tie-downs, and a modular bed rail system: Fathom unknown

400W 110V inverter in the bed: Fathom has Pro-Power AC outlet in Bed and more useful as they show it powering hair dryer and circular table saw
We know it has bluecruise capable. So that should mean 360 camera and co-pilot assist 360 are capable on every model. Might be turned off with software so they can ass it to a higher trim, but I doubt it.
Ambient lighting/seat upgrades/B&O are very likely in the higher trim. There is no reason not to do that.
Power sliding rear window I bet is gone due to mid-gate.

From the sounds of it the base model has a lot. I’d bet the base is closer to a Larait than an XLT maverick.

I think the things you’ll see in the upgraded trim are things that are easily swappable:
-heated/ventilated/leather 8-way power seats (standard is only power driver and may have heated)
-upgraded sound system

Other individual options:
-7 year blue cruise plan
-4WD
-Extended range
-Appearance packages (blacked out or street-line) with larger wheels.
-colors beyond gray and white

Insulated glass could be standard/option or not exist.

I think midgate will be in all trims to simplify manufacturing and no option for glass roof or sunroof for same reason. I doubt there will be different shocks or lift like you’d see in a tremor package.

My reasoning is that the options don’t change anything on the front or rear castings. All of the options only change the middle casting which simplifies the factory.
This is consistent with the manufacturing process philosophy. Just a footnote: Joining the Mustang club qualifies you for X plan pricing, a well investeed $40 to control dealer greed. I spoke with two local dealers who will honor this if it is offered. Tim will honor it as well based on his comments in the past. You can wait to join until Ford states they will offer the plan. The purchase plan requires 90 days activation of memebrship before a sale. The way this is being handled, we will all wait more than 90 days from order until fulfillment. https://www.fordpartner.com/assets/pdf/PartnerPlanRules.pdf
