I want to start a discussion about Ford X-plan pricing and applicability for the Fathom. Has anybody heard if it applies or is excluded?

My employer offers X-plan with Ford as a benefit of employment. If your employer doesn't, joining Mustang Club of America is an option.

The other benefit of X-plan is the dealer can't mark up the MSRP because it's a corporate Ford pricing plan discount. Here are some details:

They won't announce if the Fathom is excluded until probably Fall of 2027. But, we bought both of our Mach-Es using X-Plan in 2021 and 2022. They usually only exclude more rare vehicles like the GT500.

Grainger's 3% below invoice actually beat the x-plan I had access to on my 25 Mav Lariat Hybrid.
and they also honored the Farm Bureau $500 Ford discount (well worth the $25 it cost to sign up with Farm Bureau. No need to buy insurance from them to qualify for the discount).

My dealer's veteran discount is $1,000. That's on top of any Ford "retention" discounts they might already have on file under my name.

That's awesome. Is that on top of the standard Ford $500 veteran bonus? The current coupon in my inbox for Ford retention is $750. Not in any hurry to use it, as they send me one every six months or so.

I leased my Lightning from Granger. Good folks. I hope they offer 3% under invoice for the Fathom. Order one from there for sure.

I think the dealership simply adds their own $500 discount on top of the Ford one.

X-Plan saving for the base $28,350 Fathom would probably be around $400.

The Maverick XL MSRP is $28,145 and the invoice price is $27,582. So $563 plus .04% ($110). So $673 minus $275 equaling $398 for the Maverick XL X-plan saving.

(28145-27582)+(27582 *.004) - 275

The only way to get to 4% saving would be if the Dealer Doc fee is over $850. X-Plan limits Dealer Doc fee to $100.

The 3% under invoice Granger deal for a Maverick XL would be $1,390 off. That is if they offer this discount on the Fathom. I think they are doing 5% under invoice on Mach-e right now.

(28145-27582)+(27582 *.03)

Veterans have to be within 2 years of their active duty service ending to get the Military Discount from Ford.

X Plan rules have changed in the past few years. The doc fee cap is now all the way up to $300 and there is also a $375 admin fee. Still beats the $800+ average doc fee around here.

The dealerships around me suck and aren't going to give anyone anything close to below invoice, and definitely not 3% below. X Plan is probably still going to be the least annoying way to buy one within a few hours of where I live. Wish we had a good dealership anywhere in the area.

X-plan usually comes out to about the same price as invoice price. The great thing about X-Plan is no negotiating with dealers and a fixed doc fee that Ford requires participating dealers to use. I think it's $150 or somewhere around that.

Yep, as per X-Plan Program Rules dated September 2025. Doc fee cap $300, Administration Fee $375 included in published X-Plan price.

As a retiree for twenty years now, who's received the benefit something like five times, I can attest that is not so. That's from multiple dealers in multiple states. I had to register once with IDME from the Ford site. Since then, I just go to the IDME site and get my certificate. Always honored without question.
