I never worry about BEV battery longevity. There is a USA federal regulation governing battery warranties. I won't own any BEV that long.

Most manufacturers offer warranties that last eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Beginning with the 2027 model year, the EPA will require the high-voltage battery systems in EVs and PHEVs to carry an eight-year/80,000-mile warranty​

How the heck can the Fathom get only 200 miles range when Slate gets 205 mile range with their boxy EV truck.

The Fathom gets 50 more miles range just from Aero design improvements.

Also no way will the extended range pack be less than 300 miles and more likely 350+ miles.

You're assuming the entry level slate and fathom use the same size battery. What if the entry level fathom uses a smaller battery than slate but gets similar range as a result of better aero?

200 mile range for 30k would be a huge disappointment. Nissan Leaf has 300 miles range for 30k. The Bolt has 262 for the same price as the Fathom. The Chevrolet equinox has 319 miles range for 37k. If those price and range rumors are true, there are numerous ev’s that have better range and price than the Fathom and they didn’t have to invent a whole new assembly line process to do it.

I’ve always thought Borg was more right than wrong and enjoy his info. But what he said about the range does line up with the guy from the focus group too. I’d still take it with a grain of salt, but I’d guess there’s some truth there.

And, there are only so many charge cycles a battery can withstand. So from an engineering standpoint, more range means a longer lasting vehicle.

Agreed. 200 is a little low for standard. 200 in the bare minimum for optics, and I’d expect more like 210-230.

300 on extended range would be a massive disappointment. 280 would be a joke in 2027. Base model 200-300 is fine, but no one should use the words ‘extended range’ with anything less than 350 on a new model.

While I can't comment on speculation and figures - what I will say is that the team is still going through testing, and there is a whole process with EPA for range figures (same as any vehicle and any manufacturer). So there isn't anything to actually share on this right now.

Good job to team Fathom for actually coming through with a $30k truck!

All manufactures, please bring back stake pockets in the future, especially for small beds. Tiedowns and rails are useless for yard waste.

Understand this is more cost so I'm fine if the standard bed only came with 4 cutouts ontop of the rails and the actual stake holders under the bed rails was a dealer bolt on option.

@rileyfromford would love to eventually hear if the Fathom’s cameras will record like a Tesla’s does, thereby negating the need to install aftermarket dash cams.

I for one would love it - coming from the Lightning.

It was a beast to handle around congested Los Angeles traffic, tight parking spaces and awful U turn radius.

Would not fit in my single car garage (unless I moved the refrigerator which my wife did not like).

Never used the Lightning for any truck stuff - never hauled - never towed - was a daily commuter vehicle.

Traded in the 2022 Lightning a year later for more money than I paid for plus $7500 tax credit on top and got my current Mach E.

Fathom would be the perfect marriage EV (Lightning & Mach E) - smaller size, lower to the ground for my aging body, ample cabin size, plus a truck bed which I never would use.

Well, like you said, the Lightning isnt for you but for others that want a traditional full sized truck, the Fathom lacks.
