I haven’t used a Mach e door handle. What’s wrong with them? Personally I love the look of our EV6 recessed handles. It was weird at first but I got used to it quickly. Personally I’m good with any of them.

Nothing, in my opinion.
Other than the vulnerability of a dead 12V battery creating a potential serious issue. Ford eventually sent an OTA software update to keep the DC/DC converter running for 12 minutes after you turn the car off. In an effort to insure that you can exit the vehicle if you turn it off and the 12V battery is dead.

No gauge cluster behind the wheel would be a mistake. Don't know if I could buy a vehicle without the speed indicator in a quick easy place to see. My friend has a Prius and the center gauge cluster is the thing I hate the most about it.

The Fathom Prototype has normal looking door handles and not the little winglets of the Mach-e.

As my boy Tbuz said, those door handles are fake. It'll have mach-e door handles which I don't mind and which are superior to pop out door handles.

License plate on the left side so I can easily distinguish from Maverick in traffic. :)

You get used to it, honestly. I drove a MINI with the large speedo for a while and it was weird only for a little while.

I just hope the display has a Dark Mode like the Mach-E had.

I hope they do a Tremor trim level. Slight bit of extra ride height, all-terrain tires, slightly better suspension travel, and a rear locking differential. That would be sweet.

For $30K ?
He’s asking for a tremor package. Tremor package is never available as base pricing. It’s likely part of $10k add on.
But also they probably won’t do that, unless it is simple. I doubt they have an alternate suspension, but a 1-1.5” ride lift could be possible likely using spacers, and then gain another inch of height with off road tires. Each of those would likely drop at least 10-15 miles from the range though.

I'm guessing that if the Fathom is a multi-year success, especially if it has Maverick type numbers and consistency, we will see Ford invest in options/trims that are not going to be available during it's early production history.

But I am already impressed with Ford's approach to creating such a well equipped entry point. There's nothing that I know of that Ford has ever built that has that kind of baseline.

Nobody is going to have a "stripped" Fathom, because it isn't available. That's a lot of vehicle for $29k in 2027.

Both a big miss IMHO. Traditional analog-style gauges (okay if they'e virtual) on a screen in front of the driver is -almost- a must-have for me. A single center screen is a hard sell.

All-electric door releases (with or without separate mechanical emergency override) are an absolute show-stopper. I'd prefer simple mechanical flushstyle design, but would probably be okay with electric pop-outs like the Ioniq as long as they just 'present' the handles to an otherwise simple mechanical system.

I hope Ford doesn't screw this up, but I'm not optimistic.

Ford rep; if you're reading this, I'll NOT be a Fathom customer if the door handles aren't intuitively simple AND mechanical . both inside and out on all 4 doors. Freaking death trap if the handles require power to open/unlock.
Bahh , no, door handles are for luddites... Hands full of to go cups and Pizza, hit that button with your pinky and open the door..

Exactly. Plus this vehicle is highly dependent on a smaller battery and aerodynamics to make it affordable and still have decent range, so you could see an even bigger drop in range if you mess with the aerodynamics.

I also think the fathom isn’t going after your average truck buyer. Farley has said “it’s not really a pickup” and described it as a “new silhouette” instead. Its focus will be tech instead of off road ability. Probably first time truck buyers who are coming from a compact suv or possibly another EV. I envision this being a “city” truck.

So by the time a Tremor or Raptor package is added, the price point goes above a Lightning.

Um, no. The Maverick Tremor is $41k. That's what I want....but electric.
